yes and no. sometimes many people dont remember alot of evidence and they could also be in hysterics or they could mistaken the two people as the same when there really different like in the story of the two will's, they looked alike but they had different DNA

Deleteno not all the time because they can pick the wrong person an put the wrong peron in jail an the killer can still be roaming the streets.
i agree with this because many people put the wrong people in jail when they didnt cause the crime...also i believe that if you look further into the crime then you should always check the DNA.
an eyewitness and a crime victim may respond in a frusterated way because they may think there right but there really wrong.
I agree
DeleteI believe we should trust eyewitness testimony's IF they are backed up with evidence.
ReplyDeleteno not all the time because they can pick the wrong person an put the wrong peron in jail an the killer can still be roaming the streets
ReplyDeletenot unless theres evidence to back up the eyewitness. forensic evidence
ReplyDeleteno we should not completely trust them
ReplyDeleteNo because a lot of the times people pick someone who may look like the suspect it maybe the wrong person. People look alike with the same facial features and then vitcoms maybe more focused on other things not the face of the suspect.
ReplyDeletewhat surprised me about the comments is that we all said the same thing just a different wording
ReplyDeletefor question 4 i believe a crime victim would think differently about question 3 because they might still believe that their opinions are true, and they cant be wrong.
ReplyDeleteyes and no. sometimes many people dont remember alot of evidence and they could also be in hysterics or they could mistaken the two people as the same when there really different like in the story of the two will's, they looked alike but they had different DNA
ReplyDeletei agree with this because this can happen
Neutral, I think that eyewitness accounts are very useful but there should be more evidence than the witness such as DNA because the witness could have issues with remembering certain details such as facial structures or make mistakes when identifying others. We all are human and we all make mistakes especially in the justice system
ReplyDeleteDepends weather the actual suspect was in the line up. if not no.
ReplyDeleteyes because only if they do the new steps
ReplyDeletewe should not trust eyewitness in a court case because we dont know if the person who did it is in the court room .
ReplyDeleteno because the people they show in the line can have nothing to do with the crime
ReplyDeleteno because they real perp may not even have been shown to him/her so they go for the one that most look like the perp
ReplyDeleteNo eyewitness testimony is not reliable. In the text it says that "eyewitness identification was not very good". This accounts for numerous reasons because witnesses often choose the perpetrator that looks very similar to another person. In the video 60 minutes it says that if you have someone from the investigation give you a line up of the possible suspect your going to choose the person you "think" you saw. This makes the case more difficult if the detective one the case assures you that it is the right person it boost the eyewitness and biases there perspective of what they saw.

ReplyDeletebecause it helps us with identify the perp

ReplyDeleteI think we should and should not trust eyewitness testimonies because they aren't always right they may point out the wrong person .
ReplyDeleteBased on what I read I believe that we should trust eyewitness testimony's but they need to have strong supporting evidence.
ReplyDeleteHuman memory is fragile and malleable More than 2,000 studies on eyewitnesses in recent decades have determined that recollections are prone to decay distortion. and suggestion.
ReplyDeleteNo I think eyewitness testimonies are not reliable. In the article " Suddenly a big impact on criminal justice," it says that even though the real perpetrator isn't in the line-up, the eyewitness still picks the person who looks closely related to the perpetrator.
ReplyDeletein the text it says " interviewing a witness with open-ended questions and avoiding questions that would lead to the witness" the researchers says that "open ended-questions can elicit much more information " so based on what i read today i feel like it depends on the case an if they have all the criminals in the line up an so i think its a yes an no for me
ReplyDeleteOn page1, paragraph 1 and 2 ,the AUTHOR SAYS police gather eyewitnesses to help for the crime but they lead them on with questions and make them feel like that its there job to catch the perp
ReplyDeletewe should trust eyewitness testimony in criminal courts but make
ReplyDeleteI believe we should take in consideration that eyewitness testimonies are unreliable but still listen to what the witness has to say
ReplyDeletenot all the time because we dont no if there right
